How to make a whistle - the long & the short way

1: The grass blade toot
Grab a blade of grass with a decent width to it.
Clasp your hands together with your thumbs pointing up and wedge the grass between each thumb, and interlock your fingers.
Blow through the slit between your thumb knuckles.
Stand back as the local wildlife goes gangbusters.

2: The sycamore piccolo
We’d love to be able to print an idiot guide to carving your own sycamore whistle but you might still end up with one less thumb, so we bow to an expert. Nobody does it better than Nathan Mansbridge of the Eden Project:
