Little Modbury Lookout
From £30 per person per night
Sleeps 2 people
Situated in your own private orchard overlooking the rolling Devonshire hills, you will find your mind unwinding as soon as you arrive at this heavenly retreat to nature.
The name, Little Modbury Lookout, was chosen as Little Modbury Farm is host to this beautiful shepherd's hut and due to the position of the decking, you lookout to miles of rich green pastures where the farmer's sheep quietly spend their days grazing.
This hidden hut has been carefully handcrafted. The quirky features such as the raised bed, add unique charm to your romantic getaway. There is a log-burner for you to cosy up by on cooler evenings. With comfy furnishings and stylish interiors, you will find you never want to leave this enchanting haven. Light the fire, set up a board game, pour yourself a glass of red and tuck into your cheese board. Little Modbury Lookout truly is the perfect paradise for a couple who are looking for a break away off the well-worn path, where they can let the stresses of everyday life float away.
The private kitchen and bathroom are only a few steps from the hut itself. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up your favourite feast. Whether that be pancakes in the morning or crab linguine in the evening, you will find everything you need for your creation. The bathroom is situated next door to the kitchen and is the ideal space to freshen up after a full day of exploring the local area.
Surrounded by peaceful, picturesque countryside your outdoor space transports you to pure bliss. The decking in front of the hut is the perfect spot to sit with a good book and your morning coffee as you listen the chatter of bird song. It's a sun-trap and the best place to be as the glow of a summer's day slowly fades from the hazy sky. There's a rustic, local- crafted chiminea which creates the idyllic evening ambience. Sit down together with the fire roaring, toast some marshmallows and gaze up to the star lit sky.
Out and About
Little Modbury Lookout is an earthy escape to unspoilt nature, that provides an atmosphere of total peace and tranquility from the moment you arrive. What's even more incredible about this bespoke hideaway is that the local area is just as wonderful. There are enough bridal paths to keep you and your walking boots busy, all accessible through the gate at the bottom of the orchard.
If you are looking to explore the local towns and villages, you are spoilt for choice. Modbury, a Georgian town, is only two miles away with lots of discover. A little further afield you have Totnes, a charming town full of character, independent retail and restaurants. Totnes is well worth a visit for anyone who loves bespoke craft and delicious food. Every Saturday there is a traditional market running through the town square where you can pick up fresh food, flowers and unique handcrafted gifts. Dartmouth, Salcombe, Kingsbride and Bigbury-on-Sea are all only a short drive away.
For the adventure seeker in you the south coast of Devon has a lot of offer. Paddle boarding, body boarding and kayaking are popular activities along the coast. Bigbury-on-Sea is itself, one of the jewels in the South Hams' crown. Taking a trip over to Burgh Island is a must, especially if you leave it until the tide is in, as the sea-tractor ferry service is a magnificent voyage.
