Cottage with hot tub in Devon: This unique retreat is sure to make you say 'WOW', sat in a tranquil spot, utterly delightful both inside and out, with all you could need for a comfortable stay and its very own bubbling hot tub.
General
Get away from it all at Straw Cottage, an utterly unique retreat that has been expertly and meticulously created by local craftspeople. Constructed from bales of straw (hence the name!), there are heaps of gorgeous and intriguing features both inside and out - from the forged metal work in the garden and the hand-crafted shelves in the kitchen to the sweet straw mouse hiding in the wall - all made by the super clever artist/blacksmith owners, who live next door but totally respect your privacy.
The lovely large garden is all yours and the perfect place to relax - bubble your troubles away in the hot tub (whether that's by day or by night under the twinkling stars), have a snooze on the sun loungers or enjoy a cuppa or a glass of your favourite tipple - and your four-legged friend will love it too (please be mindful that it is not fully secure and there are sheep in the adjacent fields). Of course, dining al fresco is an absolute must - the small but perfectly formed galley kitchen is equipped with all you could need to rustle up a scrummy supper - and there's also an inside dining-area for when the weather is not so kind.
As well as a dining-area, the welcoming open plan living-room - with its open-beamed ceiling and beautiful features - includes a comfy sitting-area, complete with warming wood-burner and Smart TV, ideal for those cosy nights in. Steep steps lead up to a hidden gem in the form of a mezzanine snug, which is a great place for hiding away with a good book. With direct access to and views of the garden and hot tub, the inviting bedroom has a sumptuous king-size bed and the shower-room is just along the hallway.
Out and About
You may just wish to spend all of your time at this idyllic bolthole - and who could blame you! - but if you can bear to tear yourselves away, you are spoilt for choice for things to see and do nearby. North Devon has it all. Fancy a beach day? No problem, the sandy beaches at Saunton Sands, Braunton Burrows and Instow are all within easy reach. Speaking of Instow, there are also wonderful galleries and cafes on offer here and, with its maritime themes and links to the sea, it is well worth a visit. Or why not take a scenic walk along the coast path or a boat trip to infamous Lundy Island. The unspoilt countryside throughout the region is just stunning too. Looking for somewhere to go for a bite to eat? Highly-recommended The Farmers Arms is just a half-mile stroll away in the village of Woolsery and there are plenty of restaurants and numerous beach cafes within a short drive.
