Shepherd's hut in Devon: Get set for some countryside glamour. A gorgeous shepherd's hut with a stylish interior, its very own hot tub and views that will take your breath away. Tarka Views is luxury camping with a capital L.
A room with a view. And what a view! From this pretty shepherd's hut you can drink in the panorama of fields and forest that roll down to the River Torridge below and as far as Lundy Island. Though tucked away in the north Devon countryside, down a little lane at Oldiscleave Farm, this impressive glamping getaway is still only 15 minutes from the sandy beach at Instow, and five minutes from the attractive market town of Bideford. Far from the madding crowds - but close enough to everything you'll need.
The timber-clad, barrel-roofed hut sits in its own private, enclosed space (perfect for your pooch) with its own garden, parking area and raised deck complete with fantabulous hot tub. Enjoy the bubbles while gazing up at the starry night sky, perhaps while firing up your BBQ for some bangers and baked potatoes. Climb the wide steps to the double doors and inside you'll find an upmarket interior with everything you need for a relaxing escape. At one end, tucked into a sweet alcove, is the double bed with wall-mounted TV, storage cupboards and a window with lovely views - perfect for gazing out on while eating breakfast. Centre-stage is a well-equipped kitchen, boasting a padded storage bench, deep Belfast sink, microwave, hot plate, mini fridge, kettle and toaster, with a foldaway dining table and chairs, while at the opposite end is the wood-burning stove, complete with an endless supply of logs from the nearby 40-acre woodland. From taps to lamps, hooks to blinds, every last detail has been thought through and given a good-looking twist - and there's even under-floor heating and WiFi, too. Last but not least, the en suite shower-room adds the final touch of luxury, with a fabulous hot shower, smart wash-basin and proper flushing loo.
Out and About
With 160 acres of farmland around the hut, there is plenty of space to explore (keeping your dog on a lead in case of livestock), including a circular walk through woodland with a babbling stream, and even wild swimming in the river! Cyclists will love the Tarka Trail, just down at the bottom of the hill - that takes you along the estuary to Instow for a day at the beach. Alternatively, you could hop in the car for a day surfing at Westward Ho!, or take the boat from Bideford Quay and venture to Lundy Island, a special wild bird sanctuary with no less than 42 scheduled ancient monuments and enormous natural, rugged beauty.
Open plan living-room with kitchen, dining and bedroom areas. Counter-top cooking stove, mini fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, TV, wood-burner and double bed (4'6''). Shower-room with shower, WC and wash-basin.
