Studio in Cornwall: Unique style and luxurious comfort combine perfectly in this tranquil and cosy rural retreat for two.

General

Are you seeking a secluded spot where you can unwind and recharge, surrounded by beautiful countryside? Somewhere hidden away from it all, yet close to plenty of pubs, cafés, shops and galleries? Or maybe your dream holiday is more active - walking, cycling, surfing or boating? Whatever you are looking for, Little Woon has it all. This converted barn, once used for boat building, has been lovingly refurbished, making the most of sustainable principles (there's even an electric car charger) and re-using as much as possible from its former life, including scaffolding planks, oak offcuts and copper piping. The result is both good-looking and highly individual, and definitely puts the 'glam' into glamping.

The adventure begins when you open the characterful old barn doors to reveal your modern, floor-to-ceiling glazed front door behind, leading into the open-plan living area with a squishy sofa, TV and warming wood-burner. There's a generous dining table and a fully fitted kitchen, complete with cooker, fridge and kettle, as well as heaps of storage and worktop space, so any Jamie Oliver moments can be indulged to your heart's content. By the way, there's even WiFi here, should you need to catch up on emails or research your next day out. Slide open the door from the living space and you'll find the very inviting bedroom, complete with superking-sized bed (which can be made up as twins if you prefer), feather down duvet and plumptious pillows, plus a wardrobe and chest of drawers (no grovelling around with a rucksack on the floor with this luxury camping experience!). There's room for a travel cot, too, if you want to bring your little one. Behind another sliding door lies the en suite shower-room, with hot and cold running water whenever you wish, plus under-floor heating for cosy toes and ultimate comfort. Outside is your very own walled garden, with a deck area and pretty furniture, plus a fire-pit barbecue - the ideal place to grill some prawns, dine al fresco and enjoy a nap in the sunshine and fresh air.

Out and About

As much as it's a home-from-home for relaxing evenings in, Little Woon is also great base for exploring all the delights that this irresistible part of Cornwall has to offer. For your nearest pub, convenience store and café (and a fish and chip van on a Wednesday), the sweet little village of Gweek is only two miles away, while the postcard-pretty villages of Porthleven (where there's an impressive selection of restaurants), Helford and Cadgwith are all close at hand. Within a few minutes drive you could be exploring the maritime town of Falmouth, eating oysters at the Ferryboat Inn overlooking Helford Passage or enjoying lunch at the award-winning Trengilly Wartha Inn in Constantine. The friendly but discreet owners, who live next door and occasionally use the office space above the barn, will be delighted to talk you through destinations and activities, from walking routes to dog-friendly beaches, including less well-known yet very special places, such as the specialist wine and spirit store in Constantine village where you'll find the largest range in the South West, or the sculpture gardens in Gulval, near Penzance, where internationally renowned artists have created site-specific works.
