Shepherd's hut with hot tub in Cornwall: It's a kind of magic...a gorgeous shepherd's hut set in idyllic countryside. Time to think, space to relax, fresh air to breath. And a hot tub to bubble. You'll soon be completely under its spell.

There's a reason why the cute Cornish hamlet of Warleggan has twinned itself with Narnia, the mythical land of CS Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It's because its quiet remoteness (it really is far, far from the madding crowd) gives it an otherworldly feel that's nothing other than magical. The Witch's Wagon at Warleggan is tucked into 12 acres of wonderful countryside that offers awesome views over open meadows, moorland streams and historic woodlands. It's on the same site as The Lion's Den and The Enchanted Wardrobe, but don't worry, each has plenty of its own very private space. Here you can breathe in the fresh air, listen out for birdsong, stretch your legs in the great outdoors, marvel at the sunset and spot the stars as they appear one by one in the night sky. There's a fire-pit for gathering with a blanket around your shoulders and telling tall tales, and a hot tub for more relaxation in warming bubbles - perhaps with a glass of wine. And, via floor-to-ceiling glass doors, a glorious a sun deck with a picnic-table and loungers is all yours for al fresco meals.

Inside, The Witch's Wagon is very much larger than life, with room for a romantic retreat for two or a fun-packed glamping getaway for four. You could even book two or three huts and holiday in a larger group. In this high quality, open plan space, attention to detail is evident everywhere and comfort is paramount. The barrel-shaped roof and tongue-and-groove walls are painted fresh, bright white, contrasting with the lovely warmth of the natural wood floor and offsetting the glorious views from the picture windows. It's clean and minimal in style, but oh-so-comfy in feel. The made-to-measure kitchen comes with an oven, two-ring hob and a full-size fridge, ideal for cooking up a hearty breakfast (perhaps including some scrummy home-bred sausages or bacon purchased from the lovely owners) or a tasty supper, and in the evening you can curl up on the squishy sofa by the wood-burner, which will happily keep you warm all year round. There's a dining table and chairs if you decide to eat indoors, a proper, curly metal, king-sized bed, hand-crafted oak bunk-beds and, the piece de resistance, a good-looking en suite shower-room with a wash-basin, flushing toilet and all the hot water you could possibly want. Could one ask for more? Probably not. This is the very definition of luxury camping.

Out and About

From Warleggan you're bound to want to roam the wide-open spaces of Bodmin Moor, where 100 square miles of open wilderness awaits you, with quaint villages interspersed among the unspoilt scenery of dramatic granite tors and open moorland. Discover, by foot or bike, the extensive Cardinham and Lanydrock Woods, both just a short drive away, tour the impressive Lanhydrock House or Pencarrow, enjoy the cottage garden at Pinsla or, if waves are your thing, try the surfing centres of Polzeath and Widemouth Bay on the north coast or the sailing town of Fowey on the south. There's shipwreck diving and shark fishing in Looe, beaches at Whitsand Bay, a legendary castle in Tintagel and food by celebrity chefs in Port Isaac. From this luxury retreat in the heart of Cornwall you really are perfectly placed to explore in every direction.

Open plan living-room with kitchen, dining and bedroom areas. Wood-burner, single oven with integrated microwave, 2 ring hob, fridge, toaster, kettle, double bed (5') and bunk-beds (2'6'' recommended for children only)
