Shepherd's hut in Somerset: Say cheers to shepherd's-hut heaven with a side order of hot-tub bliss. Our beautifully fitted-out holiday home puts the glam into your very special glamping experience.
General
Imagine relaxing in a bubbling hot tub under the summer sun, enjoying the peaceful view over hills and woodlands while raising a glass to a great holiday. Now imagine strolling inside to curl up beside the leaping flames of a wood-burning stove, immersing yourself in a good book and letting all the stresses and strains of everyday life ease away. Well, guess what? This is actually no fantasy, but the luxury camping break you've been dreaming about all year - at Duck's Puddle Shepherd's Hut.
Your high-quality hut, its traditional wiggly-tin cladding smartly painted in gunmetal grey, is set in its own private spot on a farmstead in the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's the perfect place for you, your significant other and even a four-legged friend to kick back, chill out and shake off the stresses of a busy world. A home-from-home retreat, the hut has been thoughtfully designed with a king-sized bed at one end, a well-fitted kitchen and dining space, and a seating area by the wood-burner (logs are included). There is under-floor heating for additional cosiness, a TV and DVD player, and even a WiFi connection, should you feel the need to get online. Naturally enough - because this is much more than your usual camping experience - there's an en suite shower-room/WC with a constant supply of hot water and even a heated towel rail. Outside, as well as private parking for two cars, you'll find comfy patio furniture and a BBQ where you can experiment with food on the flames, and the paved path that leads to a little gazebo containing your very own hot tub. Time to turn on the bubbles, hop in and toast a heavenly Somerset getaway.
Out and About
Nearby villages offer plenty in the way of picturesque scenery and traditional pubs (The Rising Sun at West Bagborough is especially good for Sunday lunch), and there's a farm shop at Bishops Lydiard for yummy provisions. A quick whizz in the car takes you to Taunton, Bridgwater or the medieval town of Dunster, whose winding streets are overlooked by a dramatic National Trust castle. Or you can wander the ancient pathways that criss-cross the Quantocks, take to the wilds of the Exmoor National Park, enjoy the long sandy beach at Blue Anchor Bay, or explore the stunning cliffs, rocks and fossils of this stretch of the world-famous Jurassic Coast.
Layout
Shepherd's Hut: Open plan living-room with kitchen, dining and bedroom areas. Wood-burner, TV with DVD player, electric cooker (2 ring hob and mini oven), microwave, fridge (with ice-box), toaster, kettle and double bed (5'). Shower-room with shower, WC and wash-basin.
