Shepherd's hut with sea views in Devon: Breathtaking views and fresh sea air will make for an unforgettable stay at this gorgeous glamping site. Add to the mix a hand-built luxury shepherd's hut with all mod cons...perfection!
General
Incredible views of sea and sky welcome you to Copperas Shepherd's Hut, perched on the beautiful north Devon coast, renowned for its wild cliffs, rocky coves and sandy beaches, and the perfect spot in which to switch off, tune out and unwind. Set within a historic farmstead that includes Copperas's sister hut, Wild Pear, a very small campsite and The Linney holiday cottage, this luxury glamping site is fully enclosed and private, so you can read, nap, meditate, practise some yoga or simply wallow in the gorgeous surroundings without any interruptions. In summer, drink in the sunshine, endless ocean and blue skies; out-of-season, this is a thrilling, dramatic destination where, even in less-than-perfect weather, your luxury home-from-home will be super cosy and welcoming.
Hand-built in Somerset, Copperas is made in timeless, traditional style, with sturdy timber walls, a corrugated-metal roof and double doors leading to the fire-pit BBQ area for the ultimate inside-outside experience. The ingeniously designed space features a fold-down double wall bed (with a proper, sprung mattress) that, when concealed, reveals a dining table and comfy bench seats, and the nifty kitchen area includes a two-ring induction hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. All mod cons, in other words, and there's even WiFi so you can keep in touch with the outside world, should you feel the need.
Environmentally friendly sheep's wool insulation, plus a cosy wood-burner just in case, ensure a roasty, toasty interior all year round. En suite facilities are only to be expected - the neat shower-room features a flushing WC, basin with hot and cold running water and a walk-in shower - and high quality detailing everywhere, from oak skirting boards to elegant ironmongery, are simply the icing on the cake.
Out and About
The charming village of Berrynarbor, with its 17th Century pub and post office/general store, is just half a mile from the hut. For venturing further afield you're handily between the small seaside resort of Combe Martin and the larger town of Ilfracombe, where you'll find an award-winning aquarium, the unique Tunnels beaches and Chambercombe Manor, said to be one of Britain's most haunted houses. Explore the wild and rugged Exmoor National Park, take a boat trip to Lundy Island, sunbathe or surf at Woolacombe, Croyde or Saunton Sands, or simply hike the coastal path and get to know this magnificent landscape, designed an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
