Safari tent with hot tub in Devon: Here comes the sun! Open up your fabulous safari tent and enjoy the outdoor life in super-duper luxury. In less clement weather, the gas-fired heating and cosy log-burner will keep you warm and cosy.
Wagon Linney provides the ultimate luxury glamping experience in a spacious safari tent (including king-size beds, en suite shower-room, two proper flushing loos, USB charging points and even central heating!), situated on a 260 acre farm in the heart of east Devon.
The adventure begins as soon as you park up and load your luggage into the handy wheelbarrows - a great way to transport your supplies to Wagon Linney, the middle of three roomy safari tents, all, of course, positioned to respect the other's privacy. Inside, you'll be greeted by a welcoming open plan living area, with comfy sofa, large dining table, cute-as-pie king-size cabin bed and well-equipped kitchen area. The cooking facilities are made up of the wood-fired range with its integrated oven (which also helps to keep the tent toasty in the winter months, along with the central heating in the bedrooms, shower and cloakroom - yes, really!) and two-ring electric hob. In true glamping style, you don't have to let go of life's mod-cons here - there are clever touches throughout, from wired-in lighting (so there aren't any sockets) to a wired-in hair-dryer. The two gorgeous bedrooms are at the back of the tent, one with a king-size bed and the other with twins, each with proper sprung mattresses and funky apple-crate storage, along with the shower-room (with walk-in shower, flushing loo and wash-basin) and separate cloakroom, both also featuring a heated towel rail.
Outside is just as special as inside - for starters, there is a large veranda with comfy chairs, perfect for relaxing on with a good book or just taking in the glorious countryside views. Or why not watch the sunset from the bubbling hot tub with a glass of wine - bliss! The meadow stretches out in front of Wagon Linney, where a fire-pit, barbecue, picnic table and chairs make cooking and dining al fresco easy-peasy. It's great for children to run and play in too, with the veranda being a great vantage point for parents.
Out and About
If you want to get out and about, there's lots to see and do within easy reach. The small village of Plymtree is half a mile away (you can walk there from Midleydown if you wish), where you can stock up on supplies at the community-run shop (which has a great selection of wine) and have a hearty meal at The Blacksmith's Arms pub. The lovely market town of Honiton is just a few miles away, with several antiques shops, and the Blackdown Hills AONB is within easy reach too. For the active, you can hike on nearby Exmoor and Dartmoor, walk or cycle around Killerton Estate or explore the renowned Jurassic Coast, including the popular towns of Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Branscombe and Beer. If you're after a bit of shopping, the Cathedral City of Exeter is only half an hour away or, if you're looking for something that all the family can enjoy, why not try The Bear Trail, Escot Park, Crealy Adventure Park, The World of Country Life, Donkey Sanctuary or Seaton Jurassic.
