Safari tent in Cornwall: Say goodbye to stress and hello to glamping luxury. Right off the beaten track, our glamorous safari tent will transport you to the wilds of Africa while relaxing in the tranquillity of the Cornish countryside.
You'll start to unwind the moment you take the turning for the long, unmade track that leads to Tembo (it's Swahili for elephant) in its lovely, tree-lined meadow, dotted with wild flowers and saplings. Wind through the narrow lane, tunnelling through trees, and feel the sense of adventure building. From the moment you pop out into the parking-area you'll start to feel refreshed and energised. Breathe in, breathe out. You're in Cornwall now, and you can tune in to a slower pace of life. Far from the madding crowd, with only Tembo's brother Twiga close by, all that's around is peace and quiet. Apart from birdsong and the rustling of leaves, of course.
Just what is Tembo, you may ask? Well, it's a superb safari tent for six, kitted out with all mod-cons and just perfect for a blissful family break. You'll love the eclectic look of this stylish retreat, with reclaimed pallet walls, chunky furniture and African-inspired colours. The large living space features a comfy sofa and chairs and a generous dining-table, plus a cute double cabin bed that can be curtained off for privacy. In the fully kitted-out kitchen area there's a Belfast sink (with cold running water), a fridge with ice-box and a two-ring gas stove, with plenty of storage in the form of stacked apple crates. There's also a wood-fired range cooker that will keep you toasty and snug, and in which you can conjure up fabulous family meals.
At the back of the tent are its twin and double bedrooms, as well as a full-sized shower-room that features hot and cold running water, a proper flushing loo and a double shower cubicle. Outside, there's even shared access to a laundry-room with a washing machine and utility sink. From Tembo's wooden deck you can see the glamping site and pretty countryside beyond, cook up a barbecue or simply relax back in the sunshine. Or why not gather around the fire-pit, toast some marshmallows and watch the twinkling stars as they appear one by one in the endless sky above? Simply perfect.
Out and about
While you're here, as well as enjoying a wander through the camping meadow and nearby country lanes, you could stroll the mile or so for a pint or some pub grub at the 16th Century Miners Arms in Mithian, or hope on a bike for a quick cycle to St Ages, a friendly village where there are heaps of great places to eat and a lovely beach at Trevaunance Cove. Venture slightly further and you can surf, swim or sunbathe at Perranporth, Chapel Porth and Porthtowan, all lifeguarded from Easter to the end of October, or drive to the county capital of Truro for a bit of retail therapy. Or simply get away from everything and explore this fascinating part of the north Cornish coast, where there's just so much to see, from picturesque old mine buildings to stunning coastal views.
Open plan living-room with kitchen, dining and bedroom areas. Wood-fired range, 2 ring camping gas stove, fridge (with ice-box), toaster, kettle, coffee machine and double bed. Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Shower-room with double shower, WC and wash-basin. Outside Access to: Shared Laundry-room with washing machine and utility sink.
