Gypsy wagon in Cornwall: It's a dinky delight that's simply boho-beautiful - Jinka's Wagon is a whimsical hideaway that mixes bygone charm with modern comfort. Uniquely inviting, this gem of a gypsy wagon will capture your heart in every way.
What a sight for sore eyes! Boldly painted in authentic red, green and gold, Jinka's Wagon gives you a warm welcome whatever the weather. Once the horse-drawn home of a travelling gypsy family, today this genuine Victorian caravan has come to a well-earned rest in the corner of a tree-lined meadow, surrounded by gorgeous Cornish countryside and fabulous views. She has been lovingly restored to her former glories - and given a modern makeover so that her vintage appeal combines conveniently with glamping luxury. We think she's pint-sized perfection.
If you're looking for a romantic retreat or a cosy getaway, Jinka's has it covered. Climb her cute wooden steps and inside she is completely captivating, furnished with intriguing vintage finds that range from oil lamps to patterned crockery and even a stove-top kettle. Speaking of which, the genuine Queenie multi-burner stove is the centrepiece of this handsome space, keeping the wagon toasty-warm all year round, and the ideal spot for brewing up a cup of tea or a hot toddy. At bedtime, simply pull out the double bed measuring 5'6" wide by 6' long, so super-comfy - and pile with lace-edged pillows and whiter-than-white linens to ease you gently into the land of nod.
Once upon a time, Jinka's owners would have cooked outdoors. But remember - this is glamping, so all mod cons are provided for you. While there is a barbecue for when you get that campfire feeling, just steps away there's a sturdy cabin housing a kitchen/diner that boasts a two-ring electric hob, combination microwave, fridge (with ice box), kettle and toaster. The cabin also boasts a shower-room with double shower, proper flushing loo and wash-basin - hot and cold running water on top, naturally, and there's even a heated towel rail.
Jinka's is far from the madding crowd - its near neighbours are Hally and Hobson the Exmoor ponies, with whom it shares the meadow, and a flock of softly cooing doves which roost nearby.
Out and About
The closest village is historic Lanreath, which dates back to at least the Domesday Book, sited between the small harbour town of Looe and the picturesque fishing village of Polperro. Get your walking boots on for the South West Coast Path, which wanders along cliffs and bays nearby, or tramp to your heart's content through the beautiful inland woods. There are great beaches at Talland Bay and Lansallos, while adventure-seekers can book shipwreck diving and shark fishing from Looe. Has Jinka's got it all? We like to think so.
Steps up to Gypsy Wagon with open plan living-space with multi-burner and pullout double bed (5'6 wide x 6' long). Outside access to the Cabin with kitchen/diner with electric cooker (2 ring hob and mini oven), microwave, fridge (with ice box), kettle and toaster and shower-room with double shower, WC and wash-basin.
