Airstream glamping in Cornwall: Are you an Airstream addict or a travel trailer newbie? Either way, you'll fall in love with funky Finley, a riveted retro classic fully fitted with everything you need for a uniquely stylish glamping holiday (and PS, he's family-friendly, too).
He's retro, he's super-shiny, he's the epitome of the American dream… we totally heart Finley, our silver bullet of riveted-aluminium happiness. Talk about escaping the everyday - this is a luxury getaway with knobs on, a chance to experience a chilled-out break under the stars in glamorous comfort and style.
Shall we start outside? Finley's gleaming, bullet-shaped exterior is instantly recognisable as the iconic Airstream, the travel trailer that originated in 1930s America. Inside, he's been fully re-fitted for 21st century convenience, with ridiculous, custom-built attention to detail. Kick off your flip flops as you step in, because the underfloor heating will keep your toes oh-so-cosy, then brace yourselves to be bowled over by the awesomeness of the décor - from the curvalicious galley kitchen complete with Smeg fridge, electric cooker and all the gadgets any masterchef could desire, to the living area with sociable banquette seating and a flatscreen TV/DVD player and iPod dock. At the far end is a comfortable double bed, while mid-cabin are a pair of cushioned bunks: funky, pod-like spaces that the kids will adore. Groovy lighting, tactile timber flooring, stainless steel light switches - no detail has been spared. Needless to say, there's also a gorgeously rubber-studded, compact shower room with a washbasin, hot-water shower and real, flushing WC. You want more home comforts? There's even an ironing board, a hairdryer and a digital radio, plus you'll find storage space galore in which to stash away all your stuff.
Finley sits handsomely in a spacious, private decked area with a large table and superb lighting for evening dining, all overlooking a pretty little meadow - home to the owners' three horses and cheeky pony. Chillax inside the Airstream or out and, if the weather's less than perfect, simply extend his original striped awning to keep you nicely dry. There's plenty of space for privacy between Finley and his little sister, Poppy, and an outhouse where there's a washing machine and a freezer, and heaps of room to safely store bulky beach kit and essential walking gear.
Out and About
Sand, sea and surf await just a few minutes' drive away at some fab local beaches, including Trevaunce Cove, Chapel Porth, Porthtowan and Perranporth. The latter has one of the largest stretches of sand in Cornwall, and when the tide is out this has to be one of the best walks anywhere - with the added bonus of a beer, good coffee and great food at the Watering Hole pub right on the beach itself. In the vibrant village of St Agnes there's everything you'll need for your stay, including pubs, cafés and restaurants, butchers, greengrocers, bakers, a bank, a post office and a chemist. For bigger shops, the city of Truro isn't far, and you may also want to venture in search of fabulous local art in Falmouth and St Ives. Or just leave the car behind - because the coastal walks and cycle routes in this area are absolutely stunning while, for nearby eating out, The Mithian Arms is just a 15-minute stroll down the road.
Steps up to decking and into Airstream. [Ground Floor] Open plan living-room with kitchen, dining and bedroom areas. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, DAB radio, iPod dock and TV /DVD player. Double bed and bunk-bed pods (2'6" recommended for children only). Shower-room with shower, WC and wash-basin. [Outside] access to Outhouse with shared use of freezer and washing machine.
There is room for a baby in a moses basket (there is just enough space but you would need to bring your own moses basket) and the mid-cabin beds do have a bed guard and therefore could be suitable for toddlers from the age of two at your own discretion.
